Hello, my name is Nick Olen and I established Sweet Concrete in Grass Valley, California in 2015. I worked in the hospitality industry for a decade, attended small business classes at City College of San Francisco, and I did freelance graphic design, and print making. In 2008 I established Stone Improvement out of San Francisco, which was a natural stone, tile, and grout restoration company. I was trained by This Old Grout and Stone in Chandler, Arizona, and was also certified by three different sealant companies as a preferred applicator. In 2010 Stone Improvement started taking on concrete restoration and I found the process to be much more interesting than working with stone. I sold Stone Improvement in 2015 and established Sweet Concrete after moving to Grass Valley with my wife and two children. I currently do freelance web design in my spare time and actually built this website! I also love to spend time with my family and snowboard in Tahoe during the winters. Life is sweet!
I was so very pleased with Sweet Concrete! I had self-leveling concrete poured by a very disreputable company and Sweet Concrete did a great job trying to correct their mistakes. He had to hone down the many parts of the floor that weren't level. He also had to deal with a product that was not meant to accept stain. I would HIGHLY recommend Nick Olen and Sweet Concrete!
Nick sealed our stamped concrete patio. It had been previously sealed and his original process didn't bond well and the sealer turned white. However, he came back in a timely manner and removed the seal with pressure washing and redid the job. This took him several days to solve the problem. It is perfect! We really were amazed and pleased with his customer service. It is refreshing to find someone that really has great ethics and does exactly what he promises when he quotes a job. We highly recommend Sweet Concrete!
Nick stained my old faded concrete and it looks amazing! It looks like new concrete. Nick was wonderful to work with and I highly recommended him.
I found Nick and Sweet Concrete just by happen stance on Google. I'd had the idea of staining my downstairs concrete floor put in my head by a contractor buddy, and figured I'd just see what was available locally. His site was the the first listing to pop up, so I took a look. I was very impressed by the site, and then immediately by the work depicted on the site. It was obvious that my disaster of a floor would not be the first or the worst that he had encountered. I immediately called to inquire about an estimate. Nick replied promptly, and arrived a couple days later. I was initially struck by his unique personality. He is not your typical "trade" worker, and at first, I was slightly concerned based on my own biases, but he quickly alleviated those concerns with his depth of knowledge of the work, the process, artistic vision and mentality, and his confidence that he could help me accomplish my goals for the floor. After some discussion, he presented his estimated cost to me, which I found to be more than fair, and set a schedule to begin the work. He arrived promptly on the first day, and worked straight through all day. The whole process occurred in the frame of just a couple weeks (from estimate to completion), largely due to Nick's strong and dedicated work ethic. I couldn't be happier with the results, and in fact, it exceeds my expectations and desires. My floor work can be seen on the Sweet Concrete website movie #3 and is indeed impressive to see in that context. I would happily and heartedly recommend Nick to any one in need of floor restoration with an artistic flair.
